I am impressed with the amount of details on the new weapons, vehicles, the look and feel with pretty realistic and detail looks. On the other hand, the game plays and feels different to the original ET concept, the most important seems that East Front focus alot on big battles vs the smaller team base battles of ET, and most other mods. This I think is abit too ambitious. The other thing, I notice is that ET has generated a tremendous amount of custom maps, it is a pity that East Front did not utilize some of the more popular and bigger maps. With regards to game play, seems the accuracy and damage of the weapon has been toned down alot for some weapons eg. FG40, I was sniping a dumb bot, and hit him like 5 times in the head, and the bot was still running around. The German PTRS 14,5mm also seems buggy. If you look at some the popular mods, eg. True Combat, it did try to do too much at once and it was a nice and pretty good game playing experience. For East Front, seems like too much going on at once, and some how the player feels like a small part of it with the number of bots/players in the game. ET was good cuz of its objective base, and team base. The aiming mechanism is different, but East Front can be good too, if it helps focus on what was good with ET and than show people a different way to play using iron sights and team tactics. I hope the dev team takes this as constructive feedback. Cheers.

i will try to assist these problems, the damage system is mainly because our coder hates realism but he is kept in check by me often. he has been inactive recently, im thinking about a change in engine, because we are running off a falckon ET engine, as well as a ET REDO engine. (uni's 1st mod) ill do more research into that, i willnot let EF fail, _________________ "The real heroes were my good buddies who died during the battles" - Ira Hayes, USMC Soldier

As in any games, the trick is to balance realism vs exciting play. ET's success and longevity was its fast pace action without too much penalty to dying. True Combat focus more on realism, no fancy jump tricks and team tactics. For East Front, I would suggest, team play, with realistic combat stats and good maps for tactical play. Bear in mind that vehicles are too overpowered, hence there should be limited play, otherwise it will dominate the battlefield. So if vehicles can help advance play to a certain stage, than team tactics need to takeover for the final objective will not be too unbalanced. The use of anti-tank guns can be used effectively to prevent tanks for dominating the battlefield. For the realistic combat, I suggest a time revival penalty which prevents rapid spawning due to dealth(arcade like gameplay). Example, for 1st time death, respawn is 10secs, than 20secs, to a max to be decided. This need not be linear scale, ie. could be first 5 deaths 10secs, than 10 and above 20secs etc..(for example only). So the right balance is a squad of good balance classes working together and staying alive to win over objectives. I also recommend the team tryout true combat-elite and see how the feel of the game with regards to realism, for East Front, the feel and play is very much different. And keep up the good work guys, really appreciate that you are spending time and effort towards this project. http://www.realitymod.com/ - read some good stuff from this mod that you guys might want to consider some ideas too.

our original goal was inspired by red orchestra. we wanted to have a realistic squad tatic based fps. i keep pushing the use of teamwork, the importance of medics, engineers, and the common soldiers. unfortunatley we have turned away from this, but if i have to, i will start the mod from scratch, its a shame to let the vision for the mod die, we are looking for the following if you know any: idealists (i will tell you the basic out line) concept artists modelers /uves skinners texture artists mappers CODERS voiceactors (german, russian, must understand english( sound artists would be nice if you know anyone that can do any of these please have them email me at: cj_wallace01@hotmail.comthanks for the feedback _________________ "The real heroes were my good buddies who died during the battles" - Ira Hayes, USMC Soldier

Hi Covert, Sorry, I am not a programmer, more a user. I am currently helping friend to putup lan games for his members, and I decided to use linux open-source for the lan computers. I was a windows person, so I am still learning linux environment. But, I am old gamer hence, trying out all these mods to give the members a good time with linux engine games. Hopefully, we can turn the world around and not be dominated by big bad Windows. BTW - http://www.teamcombat.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=16&start=160 checkout this thread, seems a group has decided to move TrueCombat style gaming to another platform. Cheers

yea i have a friend in that TCE revival group u mentioned. im trying to find an engine for the mod, if we can get it off of ET and be stand alone, it would be great. ofcourse, i know some one who does coding on OGRE3D,maybe i can talk the mod members to switching to that, that way a stand alone game, and better models and maps _________________ "The real heroes were my good buddies who died during the battles" - Ira Hayes, USMC Soldier
